An example: Three children were injured and a fourth child was killed in a house fire caused by the children's father. We obtained a settlement on behalf of the surviving children with a cash value of $157,000. However, because of how we structured the settlement, the total value of the settlement is at least $800,000. With advice from professional annuitants, the children purchased $157,000 worth of annuities: each child will receive significant payouts for four years starting at age 18, to pay for a college education. Each child will also receive a significant payout at age 28 to provide a down payment for a home. With careful financial planning, our clients were able to more than triple the value of the settlement.
